Some flavors stick to the memories of a trip, and a good cocktail by the sea is one of them. At the bars in our hotels you will find all the classics of a Mexican Caribbean vacation. Which one was yours? Here are the favorites, with a bit of their history, so you can choose.

Margarita

Tequila, lime juice and orange liqueur, in a glass with a salt-crusted rim. It is probably the most famous Mexican cocktail in the world, and there are as many versions as there are bartenders: frozen, on the rocks, mango, tamarind or hibiscus.

Paloma

In Mexico it rivals the margarita in popularity, and it is even simpler: tequila, grapefruit soda, a squeeze of lime and a pinch of salt. Refreshing, light and perfect for an afternoon at the beach.

Piña colada

Rum, pineapple juice and cream of coconut, blended with ice. It was born in the Caribbean and it tastes exactly like that: like a vacation. Order it served in a pineapple and the photo is guaranteed.

Mojito

White rum, mint, lime, sugar and sparkling water. It comes from Cuba, but it has taken over bars all across the Caribbean. The secret is to muddle the mint without tearing it, so it releases its aroma without turning bitter.

Michelada

For beer lovers: lime, salt, sauces and chili on the rim of the glass, plus your favorite beer. Some people swear it is the best cure after a night out.

Carajillo

Licor 43 and a freshly made espresso, shaken with ice. It has become many Mexicans’ favorite way to end lunch or dinner, and you will often see it after dessert.

And for the classics: a cuba libre or a good mezcal
